I will meet you for a consultation at my office in Atascadero. During this time we will get to know each other and see if I am a good match for you as your doula. Feel free to also ask any questions you have about doulas and what I can/will do specifically for you. We can discuss your birth plan, and fears or concerns, I will support, and brainstorm with you, and I will provide you with the most up to date knowledge that I can.

Doula Philosophy
I support women and their families in the choices they make, while providing informational support, and working to maintain the sanctity of the birth space as originally intended. As your Doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital. I am independent and self-employed. I do not have a preconceived idea of how I think your birth should be - my role is to support you in achieving the birth experience YOU desire.
The Benefits of Having a Doula
Women everywhere are turning to Doulas to aide them in preparing for the birth of their baby, assist them during labor and delivery and also help them during the postpartum period. Here is why this trend is growing...
50% reduction in cesarean rate
25% shorter labor
60% reduction in epidural requests
40% reduction in artificial oxytocin use
30% reduction in analgesia use
40% reduction in forceps delivery
Monitrice: A monitrice is a licensed midwife who is also a certified labor doula. A monitrice offers all of the same support as a doula (please see doula services above), and is also a Licensed Midwife. This license allows the monitrice to perform limited clinical assessments while supporting the family at home in labor prior to transporting to their planned birth location including maternal vitals, fetal monitoring, and cervical exams as requested.

What is a Doula?
DOULA (dōō'lə) n. A doula also known as a birth companion is an experienced, non-medical assistant who provides physical, emotional and informed choice support in prenatal care, during childbirth and during the postpartum period.
Is a doula the same thing as a midwife or a nurse?
No – A doula provides no medical or nursing care. A doulas role is to provide complete and total attention to being by a woman’s side for the entire length of her labor providing continuous emotional and physical support.
A doula can be a helpful part of your birthing team. According to the American Pregnancy Association, many mothers reported the need for less medical intervention when using a doula. However, it’s important to note that a doula is not a substitute for a doctor or midwife since they do not have the same in-depth medical training.
What kind of training does a doula have?
Most doulas must go through a certification process, which includes didactic training and assisting during live births. Their certification requirements vary by state.
Does a doula replace the partner in the labor and delivery?
A doula does not replace anyone. She is another member of the birth team, and supports everyone in their own role. A doula’s presence helps partners participate at their own comfort level, showing them how and when to use various comfort techniques, providing information, and in some cases, looking after them as well. Partners are often grateful to be able to share responsibility with someone more experienced, and can therefore enjoy the birth experience more themselves.
Will my doula support me in my home?
Yes – As your doula, my support begins when you call me. I will come to your house and help you labor at home or birth center, or meet you at the hospital.
Will my doula support me if I need medical intervention?
Yes – I will of course work towards your preferred goal but if unforeseen events should occur, I will support you through your entire birth experience. I will continue to care for you, offering emotional and informational support as well as physical support as needed. When it’s time for you to birth your baby, my assistance as your doula can be invaluable for the birth as well as your postpartum care no matter what the circumstances are at that time.

Katrina was a huge blessing this pregnancy. I hope everyone can work with this amazing midwife.
From the moment I called Katrina inquiring about her services she responded with an awesome combination of kindness, professionalism, and eagerness to help.
Every home visit she would balance the important duties of checking on me and the baby, charting, bloodwork, answering questions - with my adoring toddler who wanted to also help with every detail and listening to baby sounds. Katrina was patient and loving.
Any questions I had that came up, She would readily answer but not add too much information which I appreciated.
I felt extremely cared for and safe and Katrina‘s care as a midwife.
I think she is incredibly knowledgeable has great experience both personal to her own family and with SO many clients and home births.
She showed up for me in my birth in an incredible way by providing the confidence I needed in the times where I truly didn’t know what to do next or how I would get through it.
She was incredibly assuring and present.
She was so empowering for me and my husband all throughout pregnancy and delivery.
We were able to have our daughter in the peace of our home in the birth tub after 3.5 hours of active labor. I was blown away with gratitude. ( I know this part isn’t in our control - but wanted to share that blessing!)
I cannot recommend Katrina‘s midwifery care enough.
My husband and I trust her and are in incredibly grateful for her care for our second daughter.
She also provided so many extra details than just what is listed under midwifery care. She truly goes the extra mile for people and is incredibly professional.
I trust her medical advice, her experience, and the genuine kindness of her heart.
Thank you Katrina and Gea midwifery for making our second pregnancy and birth incredibly peaceful and exciting!

I don’t even know where to begin because the level of care exceeded all of my expectations. We transferred care halfway through pregnancy to midwife, Katrina Bolduc after feeling called to experience birth differently than my last two pregnancies. Before we made it official with her she was open to all our questions & concerns. Katrina always made sure that I was informed and educated me in more areas than one. I gravitated towards her nurturing ways, widespread knowledge/education and the control she encouraged me to take in all aspects of pregnancy & birth. My family felt cared for by her, the kids & my husband were brought in closely through it all! Choosing Gea Midwifery was the best decision for our entire family. Each visit was special leading up to the birth. The birth experience was exactly what it needed to be because she empowered me and provided a safe place to follow my bodies lead. She believed in me and encouraged me when I felt like I couldn’t go on. Katrina & my husband kept me fed and hydrated through the long day of labor and I felt carried through one of the most intense, transformative times of my life. I felt like she knew exactly what we needed but always gave us options and provided reasoning. I felt like she knew my heart & desires for birth so when my vision became blurry through contractions she held the vision for me all the way up to pushing our sweet Dani Grace out into the world. I’m forever grateful for Katrina Bolduc and have a new perspective on midwifery care as well as home births.
With a grateful heart,

"Katrina is amazing! I wish I would of used her for all 3 of my children's births. She is so caring, knowledgeable, and truly supports you. She always makes you feel so comfortable and you never feel pressured by her in anyway. My husband felt so much more comfortable knowing we had her available. She is your best advocate!!!!! I love her back pack of tools, her personal library she loans, and all her little tricks up her sleeve she truly is the best!!!!!" ~ Chandra C.S. March 2018
"Katrina is one of the most kind hearted and genuine people I've ever met. When my husband and I first met with Katrina she listened to all my wishes and was encouraging and supportive. We hired her pretty early in my pregnancy but she always stayed in contact with me and was always there to answer any question or concerns I had. The day of my labor was a day of unexpected ups and down a lot of the things I wanted from my labor didn't unfortunately go as planned but Katrina was there to help me through as well as my husband. She was always supportive of what I wanted and never judge mental. Having her there was pure joy for my family and I and I felt like I had true friend there helping me through. If your pregnant I would not just consider Katrina but make it a necessity you won't regret it." ~ Stephanie H.
